Food for Life Europe is an umbrella network organisation, sharing good practices among members, distributing over 12 million free meals annually and connecting members with the EU, UN FAO, and WFP. FFL Europe helps Food for Life projects across Europe to share good practices, improve communications and build the capacity of each individual member organisation for improved plant-based meals distribution across Europe. We assist in fundraising and representing affiliate organisations in Europe to the European Union and other umbrella organisations. FFLE is the European Confederation of Food for Life NGOs working on distributing free plant-based meals, sustainable development and international cooperation.

Food for Life Europe was established in 2014. It has historical roots from 1971 Concert for Bangladesh organised by George Harrison and Indian sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar at Madison Square Garden, New York City.

The roots of the Food for Life Global organization date back to 1974 in Mayapur, India. The founder Srila Prabhupada, witnessed village children fighting with street dogs over food scraps. Deeply moved, he instructed his students that "no one within a ten-mile radius of a centre no one should go hungry." This led to the creation of local "ISKCON Food Relief" programs worldwide.

As these local free food distribution programs grew into a massive decentralized network, Food for Life Global was founded in 1995 in USA. Food for Life operates in over 65 countries with more than 250 affiliate projects.

Since the Food for Life movement's inception, together we have served over 8 billion free meals, making us the world’s largest plant-based food relief network. Food for Life Global, with its affiliates, distributes over 4 million plant-based meals every day through global network.
